Once again, a large-scale data source has confirmed that Cancun real estate is one of the ideal choices for American buyers. The date was the result of national housing survey giving Cancun the top place in the most important categories.
This results were released in early January, from the Consulta Mitofsky National Survey on Housing, and Cancun won first place in the areas of relaxation, best beach and vacationing and won second place in the fun and entertainment industry. (Mexico City took first place in that category, but living Mexico City is daunting for most foreigners.)
This survey is conducted every two years, and the 2008 results gave Cancun first place in the same 3 categories.
Cancun's rating as a beachfront destination was an astounding 45%.
For Cancun real estate buyers this is good news. First of all, Cancun as a place for vacation or living lives up to its reputation, and the majority of visitors and residents identify the area as he best choice in beaches, not only in Mexico, but in the world. Besides offering beautiful beaches, it offers many modern conveniences, ranging from large malls to many international restaurants, and an international airport with many direct flights throughout North America. All sorts of activities, ranging from a vibrant nightlife to Latin America's best golf options or diving in the Mesoamerican reef gave the high satisfaction rate for activities.
Secondly, these numbers indicate that tourists are very happy with Cancun; it isn't likely that tourists will be changing their mind about returning year after year to enjoy the lifestyle and relaxation offered here. The strong reputation make it a likely pick for new tourists as well. A growing number of tourists means more investment, which in turn brings new roads, new activities and more services; this also benefits residents and property owners.
One recent campaign, Cancun Caribbean Treasures, integrates the beautiful destinations of Holbox, Contoy, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and Puerto Morelos into the image of Cancun, all of which are a very short drive away and offer residents beautiful nature and quaint towns. Many Cancun real estate owners likewise enjoy the fact that as a mid-size city it also offers very short access to these smaller, quaint destinations.
The image is unlikely to be lost; recently, the beachfront in Cancun received an investment of over $6 million to restore sand which had been washed away in certain areas, re-widening the beach along most of Cancun's hotel zone. This investment reflects the government's commitment to maintain and improve the area's tourism and lifestyle potential.
